Hi! My name is Lisa and I’ll be going to South Sudan for 7 months on a missions trip with Africa Inland Mission (AIM). I’ll be living in Nagishot amongst the Didinga people and helping with administrative work, teaching children, and women and youth discipleship.
I’m super excited about this opportunity to
serve and so thankful for how God has been so gracious in bringing me to this
point. In college, I was exposed to missions through my college fellowship, but
honestly I was more concerned with social justice issues than with matters of
the hearts and souls being saved. It wasn’t until the past few years out of
college that I really began to understand Jesus’ call in the Great
Commission. I always had a desire to help
others, but it wasn’t until I felt the weight of my own depravity and sin that
I could truly recognize my need for a Savior and appreciate Christ’s redemptive
work in my life. Now that I see, feel, and know God’s goodness and grace, it’s
hard to imagine the many places where people have not yet heard the Gospel.
It’s my prayer that this blog would be honoring
to God and reflective of His heart for his people and for the nations. I would
love for this space to be more than just stories, but for it to be an honest
reflection of God’s sanctifying work in my sinful life, both here in the states
as I prepare to go and for the seven months that I’ll be in South Sudan.
I love the idea of mobilizing the church to be
excited about missions, so I hope you’re encouraged by this blog. And God has
shown me time and time again how blessed I am by the love and support of my family,
friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ, so I hope you know how thankful I
am for YOU! Thanks for reading and journeying with me =)
